Personalized accelerated TMS depression treatment in San Ramon targets depression and anxiety in a single focused week — even when medications have failed you. Delivered using FDA-cleared devices for depression. No medications. Backed by a 79% remission rate.
Before accelerated TMS makes sense, it helps to understand standard TMS therapy for depression: a safe, gentle procedure in clinical use since 1994 — more than 30 years worldwide — and FDA-cleared as a transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment for depression in the United States since 2008.
Not a real patient.
Standard TMS generally requires one treatment per day, five days a week, for 7.5 to 8 weeks — a total of 36 treatments. Our accelerated protocol condenses a complete course of care into just five days. By receiving 10 sessions per day, patients complete 50 targeted treatments in one focused week.
Brain Wellness Center has offered accelerated TMS since 2012. Our proprietary qpTMS™ approach uses Functional qEEG Brain Mapping to analyze each patient’s individual brain-wave patterns. This allows us to personalize the stimulation location, frequency, and treatment strategy according to that patient’s unique brain function.
Years after Brain Wellness Center began offering accelerated qpTMS™, Stanford University published clinical studies using an MRI-guided accelerated schedule of 10 TMS treatments per day for five days — a total of 50 treatments. Their research reported remission in up to 84% of patients with medication-resistant depression, supporting the safety and significant clinical potential of the accelerated treatment schedule.
Stanford named its approach SAINT™ — Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy. SAINT™ is a protected trademark for Stanford’s specific treatment approach. Brain Wellness Center is not affiliated with Stanford University and does not offer SAINT™. We offer accelerated qpTMS™, our own personalized, qEEG-guided treatment approach.
Accelerated qpTMS™ is noninvasive, requires no anesthesia or sedation, and is performed using FDA-cleared TMS equipment. It does not produce the systemic side effects commonly associated with antidepressant medications.
Insurance plans do not currently cover accelerated TMS. However, standard TMS — generally provided once per treatment day — may be covered for patients diagnosed with major depression who meet their health plan’s treatment requirements. Brain Wellness Center participates with almost all major insurance plans operating in California, including Medicare.
Accelerated TMS is not a day spent in a chair. Each treatment takes exactly ten minutes. Between sessions, the next forty-five belong to you.
You stay awake, seated and comfortable. No anesthesia, no sedation, no recovery time. Ten minutes of precisely targeted stimulation, then you are up and moving.
Work on your laptop on our free Wi-Fi. Answer email. Have lunch. Watch something on one of our TVs — YouTube, Amazon, whatever you like. Step out for a coffee. Read. Sit outside in the sun. Patients use this time however they like — it is genuinely their own.
Ten sessions, start to finish. You arrive in the morning and leave having completed a fifth of the entire course — the equivalent of two weeks of standard TMS in a single day.
Five days like this and your treatment course is complete. Most patients bring a laptop, a book, or simply plan to enjoy the week.
If you have tried multiple medications without success, you are not alone. In a four-year clinical trial sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health, known as STAR*D, researchers evaluated 4,041 patients across 14 major medical centers. The study concluded that the maximum remission rate for an initial antidepressant was only 28%. For patients who did not respond to their first medication, the likelihood of remission dropped with each subsequent attempt — falling to roughly 13% by the third trial, and into single digits by the fourth.
Accelerated qpTMS™ is designed for those who need a more powerful, direct, fast-acting option. Recovery from depression in five days is possible.

Before your first treatment and again after your final one, we administer the same in-depth cognitive testing — at no additional cost — so your progress is measured with hard data, not a follow-up questionnaire. Two objective assessments are included with every qpTMS™ course.
Measuring auditory and visual tests of focus and concentration, including sustained attention, selective attention, complex attention, and simple attention.
Repeated at no additional cost at the end of treatment.
A comprehensive brain-function assessment built from 16 distinct domains — verbal, visual and working memory; processing and motor speed; executive function; reasoning; and social acuity.
Repeated at no additional cost at the end of treatment.
A clear, guided path — from your first free video consult to the day the clouds part.
Most clinics apply a one-size protocol. We pioneered qEEG-guided TMS in 2012 to personalize and optimize every patient's outcome.

TMS is suitable for most patients. There are very few outright restrictions — but there are circumstances that call for extra care, additional investigation, and careful planning before treatment begins.
A seizure history does not automatically rule out treatment, but it does require careful evaluation and planning before we proceed.
Pacemakers, vagus nerve stimulators and similar implants call for consultation with your other specialists and additional planning on our side before treatment.
Every Accelerated TMS patient begins with an EEG, recorded here and interpreted by board-certified neurologists. That recording identifies abnormalities in your brain’s electrical activity before any treatment is delivered — which is precisely what allows us to plan carefully around concerns such as seizure risk. No procedure eliminates risk entirely, but very few patients are turned away, and screening is how we keep it that way.
Yes, we do provide Accelerated qpTMS™ in San Ramon. Everything happens at our San Ramon clinic at 5401 Norris Canyon Rd., Suite 304 — all 50 treatments, your functional qEEG Brain Mapping, and your cognitive assessments. You are never sent elsewhere for imaging or testing.
Our clinic is about thirty minutes from Oakland International Airport and about an hour from San Francisco International.
